My Offering This Year

DAILY JOURNEY WITH THE LORD
Thursday 11th January, 2018.

Bible Text: Genesis 4: 2-6
3 In the course of time Cain brought some of the fruits of the soil as an offering to the LORD. 4 And Abel also brought an offering—fat portions from some of the firstborn of his flock. The LORD looked with favor on Abel and his offering, 5 but on Cain and his offering he did not look with favor. So Cain was very angry, and his face was downcast.6 Then the LORD said to Cain, “Why are you angry? Why is your face downcast? 7 If you do what is right, will you not be accepted? But if you do not do what is right, sin is crouching at your door; it desires to have you, but you must rule over it.”

Psalm 24:1 made it known and clear to us that God created everything and this simply means that God owns everything that you have: life, money, properties, etc. Do not see all that you have as your own as Cain did. If God can create everything because of you, why do you now find it difficult to give willingly to the giver of everything.
Abel brought his offering (not just offering but good and quality offering) to God and his offering was accepted. Cain’s offering was not accepted because he sees everything as his own and finds it difficult to give to the owner of everything. Are you like Cain or Abel in giving your offering to God? Are you among the people that always say that is Pastor that spend the money?
Whoever that will spend the money should not be your concern, your decision this year should be “ I will give God quality offering and whoever that spends it is not my concern, my concern is for God to accept my offering. As you continue in the journey of this New Year, know that:
1. God owns everything you have – Psalm 24:1-2
2. Be cheerful in your giving to God – 2 Corinthians 9:6-8
6 Remember this: Whoever sows sparingly will also reap sparingly, and whoever sows generously will also reap generously. 7 Each of you should give what you have decided in your heart to give, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver. 8 And God is able to bless you abundantly, so that in all things at all times, having all that you need, you will abound in every good work.
3. You cannot outgive God (there is nothing too much to give to God) – Luke 6:38
“Give, and it will be given to you: good measure, pressed down, shaken together, and running over will be put into your bosom. For with the same measure that you use, it will be measured back to you.”
Finally, it is part of our responsibility as Christian to give back to God and God will not refuse to give anything that is good for us Psalms 84:11.
