Love your Neighbour

Daily walk with the Lord
Date: Tuesday, February 13, 2018
Read: Luke 10:25-37

MEMORISE: So he answered and said, “‘You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, with all your strength, and with all your mind,’ and ‘your neighbour as yourself.'” (Luke 10:27)

Like Cain, many people want to know, if they are their brother’s keepers. The truth is that God always holds us responsible for people He puts around us. It is an act of gross irresponsibility for us not to be there for people God expects us to be directly responsible for. God is a relational God and expects His people to be relationship-minded.

What is your understanding of the parable of the Good Samaritan? Who is truly your neighbour? Is it good to show kindness and love to everyone? How can we demonstrate true love? What are the dangers of hatred, bitterness and anger in any relationship? Are these controllable? The following are some cogent steps to better relationships.

Love: This is the foundation for any good and successful relationship. Jesus emphasised the imperativeness of love for us as good disciples. Love covers offences and gives room, large enough for forgiveness. But for love, Jesus wouldn’t have come to die for man, even God wouldn’t have released Him as the ransom for our sin. We talk of love that is not in words, but in actions. Love not in words but in deeds (actions, works 1 Jn. 3:18). Emulate the good Samaritan in that parable, and jettison the misbehaviour of Cain who chose to kill his brother instead of keeping him alive.

Knowledge: How much of your neighbour, wife, friend, mate, co-worker, pupil, boss, etc., do you know?
Forgiveness: erring is inherent in man. Know that there is no good person that cannot sin. Any heart permeated with love of God is ready-made for forgiveness. Remember what Jesus Christ did for you (Jn. 3:16; Rom. 5:5-8).

PRAYER POINTS
1. Lord, help the believers to demonstrate true love for You through sincere love to their neighbours
2. The spirit of love, mercy and grace, rest upon the Church, in Jesus’ name.
3. Lord, heal every relationship that is suffering from lack of true love.
