The Truth that set free

Text: John 8:10-32
There is absolutely nothing that can set man free except the truth. The freedom of all men is in the truth, without the truth, there is no freedom, absence of the truth amount to absence of freedom. So if you need freedom look for the truth.

Jesus in this passage is not talking to unbeliever. In verse 31, He said “if you continue in my word, then you are my disciples
Indeed” it means that we have Christians and Christians indeed.

Those that are disciples indeed are those that can know the truth and those that continue in His word are the disciples indeed.

You shall know the truth – the word ‘know’ here is not talking about identification but acknowledgement, it is from the Greek word ‘ginosko’ which means knowledge. In other words, it means that you must have understanding of what the truth is.

The truth in this passage is a personality (Jn. 14:6) Jesus is the truth. Knowing Jesus is the only key to man’s freedom.

Makes you free from what? (Romans 6:14) free from the power of sin. If you are not free from the power of sin, your service to God will be regarded as mere religion that will not be acceptable to God because it will amount to been workers of iniquity.

Let me conclude here by saying that studying the word of God and continue in it will make you a disciple indeed, and being a disciple indeed will make you to know the truth and the truth which is Jesus (Jn. 8:36) shall set you free from the power of sin.
